Despite the current economic problems, the banking, finance and insurance sectors remain popular career choices among graduates, it has been suggested.
According to a survey conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers, such jobs were the most popular intended industry destinations for undergraduates, followed by accountancy and professional services.
However, 81 per cent of respondents did report that they were more concerned about their jobs prospects than they were this time last year.
In a word of advice to future university leavers, Sonja Stockton, head of student recruitment at PricewaterhouseCoopers, said: "For such an overwhelming number of students and graduates to be concerned about their job prospects emphasises the need for students to think as early as possible about their options post graduation."
The expert added that students also need to look at how their non-academic skills can be used to impress potential employers.
A professional services firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers has more than 155,000 staff members operating in 150 countries across the world.
